Starting tomorrow, September 28, 2012, many across our nation will begin 40 Days of Prayer, initiated by author/pastor Max Lucado.
The purpose of praying everyday for the 40 days leading up to Election Day is to pray for “the condition of our country…declining moral standards. Economic turmoil. Seemingly endless bickering and posturing of our leaders,” according to Lucado’s website.
You can sign a pledge to pray for our country, our leaders, each other. Lucado quotes 1 Timothy 2:1-3 saying “The first thing I want you to do is pray. Pray every way you know how, for everyone you know. Pray especially for rulers and their governments to rule well so we can be quietly about our business of living simply, in humble contemplation. This is the way our Savior God wants us to live.”
He also introduces a great acronym:
U – Unite Us
S – Strengthen Us
A – Appoint and anoint our next president
